About
Esra Güler is an artist from Istanbul, Turkey. She lives and works in Seattle, WA.
Esra's paintings focus on shame, self-expression, female sexuality, transformation, and tenderness. Her imagined improvised characters are often diasporic reflections of her who use their environments as a "theatrical stage" to discuss inhabiting space and envisioning freedom. Highly inspired by storytelling and art history, Esra's work merges painting with journal entries, often revealing intimate yearnings, meditations on power, and rootedness in self.
